Yurii Kot graduated and finished postgraduate courses at the Kyiv National Academy of music. He is laureate of the National Lysenko Piano Competition (1988, Kiev), I International Prokofiev Piano Competition (1992, Saint-Petersburg), I International Competition for Chamber Music Performances Golden Autumn in piano duo category with Iryna Aleksiychuk (1993, Khmelnitsky), XLV International ARD Competition in piano duo category with I. Aleksiychuk (1996, Munich), VI International Murray Dranoff Piano Duo Competition also with I. Aleksiychuk (1997, Miami).

He has performed recitals with many renowned orchestras from Ukraine, Germany, Japan, Italy, Spain, Portugal, France, United States, and others. Since 1994, he is a professor at the Piano Department of Kyiv National Academy of Music, and, since 2019, holds a position of the chairperson of the 1st Piano Department.

In 1995, Yurii Kot has been awarded and announced as the Honored Artist of Ukraine. He was also awarded with L. Revutski National Prize of Ministry of Culture of Ukraine, National Composers’ Union of Ukraine and National All Ukrainian Music Union for concert activity and the performance of contemporary music. In 2019, was awarded with the People Artist of Ukraine title.

Y. Kot took part in numerous international music festivals. Among them: Musiksommer-97 (Dresden, Germany), Two Pianos Plus (Miami, US), Modern Music Festival (Ban’ska Bystrytsa, Slovakia), Kiev Music Fest, Music Premieres of the Season (Kiev, Ukraine), Regina and Vladimir Horowitz - in memoriam (Kiev, Ukraine), Farbotony (Kanev, Ukraine), Festival of Contemporary Krakow Composers (Krakow, Poland), Richter Fest (Odessa, Ukraine), Piano Music Festival Una tastiera per due mondi (Carrara, Italy), and many others.

He has been member of jury in numerous competitions in Ukraine, Georgia, Serbia, Slovenija, Macedonia, Croatia, Montenegro, Czech Republic. As professor Y. Kot has been holding masterclasses in Ukraine (V. Horowitz Masterclass, Kiev), Serbia (Kragujevac, Belgrade, Sabac, Nis), Montenegro (Kotor, Tivat), Japan (Tokio, Kioto, Hiroshima), Croatia (Split), Macedonia (Skopje, Ohrid), Slovenija (Ljubljana), Austria (Graz, Gut Hornegg), USA (Phoenix, Arizona) and others.

He often plays as soloist and chamber music performer (piano duo, piano trio, and many other). Since the beginning of russia’s barbaric war against Ukraine, lives in Spain and Croatia.
