Toby Olias Brechler was born in 2005, and started playing piano at the age of 5. Toby received his first piano lessons at the Music School of Teterow with Petra Leupold-Elert, later with Aya Matsushita, and has been an early student at the Rostock University of Music and Drama, in the class of Lilit Grigoryan since April 2021. He has taken part in various masterclasses, such as the Bechstein Masterclass (2022) and the International Piano Academy Murrhardt (2023), with prof. Christian Pohl (in Leipzig) and prof. Stephan Imorde (in Rostock). Toby has won 1st prize at the "International Interpretation Competition of Ostracized Music" (2020), as well - at the International Arno Babadschanyan Competition in Armenia (2021). He has also won 1st prize at the German National Youth Music Competition, and 2nd prize at the International Piano Competition Kronberg (2023). Toby has a scholarship of the Oscar and Vera Ritter Foundation, and has received the foundation's special prize in December 2023. In 2023, he played the first movement of Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto No. 1 with the Neubrandenburg Philharmonic Orchestra.
